MANAGING DIRECTOR OF D&M RESEARCH
Derek has over 25 years’ experience as a market and social research both on client and agency side. Formally educated in a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Psychology from the University of NSW, Derek is now the Founder and MD of D&M Research in Sydney. Derek also has the additional qualification of QPMR (Qualified Practicing Market Researcher) from the Australian Market & Social Research Society. Following his graduation Derek worked in Policy and Research roles for various NSW Government Departments until his was recruited by the polling agency Newspoll where he spent four years before leaving to set up his own agency in 1994.
Derek has extensive financial services and insurance experience working with many leading companies in Australia. Derek is the lead with key account Avant (Medical Indemnity Insurer) that invests heavily in stakeholder, member and competitor market research. Areas of research include; category drivers and performance, member satisfaction and engagement, claims experience, and new product development. Research is usually consists of both qualitative and quantitative with Doctors of all career stages from students to very senior specialists. Other insurance clients have included AIMS (peak broker organisation), AMP, Cover-More Travel Insurance, Medibank, and Woolworths (Pet Insurance).
D&M Research is ISO20252 accredited (Australian Standard for Market & Social Research) and has won numerous awards including for Excellence in Business & Ethics (City of Sydney 2015), MD of the Year (TEC 2010), Commercial Effectiveness and numerous Conference awards for papers he has presented at conferences in Australia and abroad.
